THE PROJECT

The Jenks Chamber of Commerce's EMERGE group is putting together the process for a community-based design contest. We hope to have everyone from elementary students to professional artists submit their Jenks flag designs and have the Jenks community vote on their favorites. More details will be announced shortly and will then be found under How it Works > Contest.

RULES & GUIDELINES

 1. An entry must be submitted either as a 3x5-inch drawing or a JPG/PDF/Vector image.  A resolution of 900x1500 pixels works well, no files larger than 2mb please.  Index card size works well.

An entry will NOT be accepted if:

  • It uses gradient colors. (All parts must be solid colors.)

  • It is two-sided. (The same image will be seen on both sides.)

  • It is a design that is plagiarized or is otherwise not an original work of the artist/designer.

2.  Entries must include contact information for the artist including:  Name, address, phone number, email, age if under 18, and parental contact information if entrant is under 18.

Note: do not put your name or identifying information on the image itself.  Judging will be anonymous and the committee will assign a number to your entry.

3.  A paragraph (150 words or less) explaining symbolism in the flag and its story is strongly recommended but not required.

4.  Entries will be accepted via email to info@jenkschamber.com or delivered in person to 115 S. First St., Jenks, OK 74037, or by mail to the Jenks Chamber of Commerce, PO Box 902, Jenks Okla. 74037.

  • The Committee reserves the right to use entries for promotional purposes during the course of the contest, for example on social media for contest updates.

  • The Committee’s goal is a free and fair contest, subject to reasonable changes throughout its course. Contest rules are subject to change.

HINTS/ADVICE

  • The flag must be a powerful design that attracts immediate interest and excitement. Citizens of Jenks must be attracted to their flag, want to see it used because they like it, rather than as a duty.  It must speak to the character of the citizens in a way they can identify with and say "Yes, that's us".
  • Samples of city flags can be found on Flags of the World-FOTW.
  • Read the Creative Brief here.
